Do
you have what it takes to command a Troop of Challenger 2 tanks?
If
you think you could become an officer in the Queen's Royal Hussars then
contact us. You will need to be aged between 17 and 29 with a minimum
of 5 GCSEs and two A Levels. Most officers now join with a degree qualification.
You will also need to be committed, enthusiastic, physically fit, motivated
and confident. When you contact us, you will be invited to an interview
at HHQ in London and you will then visit the Regiment. You can look at
us and we can look at you.
If
you make the grade, you will have to pass the rigorous 44 week Officer
Training Course at the Royal
Military Academy Sandhurst. Having gained your commission you will
attend a five month special to arms course at the RAC Armour Centre, where
you will qualify as a Sabre Troop Leader.
You
will then join the Regiment and take command of 11 soldiers and 3 Challenger
2 battle tanks. It is the most exciting and challenging job for a junior
officer in the British Army. You may even find yourself immediately in
at the deep end commanding your Troop on an operational tour or on exercise.
In time, you may specialise and command the reconnaissance or signals
Troops. You could also the Regimental tank gunnery officer.
You
will be able to enjoy unparalleled social and sporting opportunities.
You can ski, play Rugby, Cricket, Polo or even hurl yourself down the
Cresta Run. You will also be a part of one of the oldest and smartest
Officer's Mess in the British Army.
