If
you decide to join the Army and we think that you have got what it takes
to become a Trooper in the Queen's Royal Hussars you will undergo basic
training for 12 weeks at the Army Training Regiment at Winchester. You
will need to be committed, fit and enthusiastic. You will be taught, basic
soldiering techniques and develop confidence, fitness and communication
skills.
On
successful completion of this, you will attend Special To Arms Training
at the RAC
Armour Centre, Bovington, Dorset. Here you will obtain your civilian driving
licence before qualifying as a Challenger 2 tank driver.
It's that simple. You are now at the controls of 65 Tons of main battle
tank.
You
may even deploy on operations or exercise straight after training. You
will be part of a close knit Troop, in a family Regiment. All this and
a healthy pay packet too.
In
time, you will qualify as a gunner capable of destroying enemy tanks over
1 mile away. You will learn to load and operate the tank radios before
finally taking command of your own tank. You can earn many varied NVQs
and qualify as a HGV driver with HAZMAT accreditation. As well as your
core tank crew skills, you may branch out into the specialist areas, such
as reconnaissance or signals troop.
Regardless
of the job you do, a wide variety of social and sporting opportunities
await you. Tour Europe during time off or practice any sport imaginable.
In the close knit environment of the Queen's Royal Hussars the friends
that you make will be for life.
